HIST 8336  U.S. CONSTITUTIONAL HISTORY TO 1860 (3 credits)

This course will examine the history of the United States constitution from its promulgation in 1787 through the end of the Civil War. This will include consideration of both English and colonial precedents. The course will analyze the process of writing and ratifying the document in the late 1780s and will then look at some of the key legal decisions between 1790 and 1860.
