SOWK 4530  SCHOOL SOCIAL WORK (3 credits)

This course explores the field of social work practice in school settings, including the history of social work practice in schools, school environment, roles of school social workers, mandated foundations for school social work services, eligibility for special education and 504 plans, theories of practice that include school and community based models, and interventions for target populations in schools. Prerequisite(s): Admission to MSW program OR permission of the school. Not open to non-degree graduate students.
