Admission Decisions

Admission by Review

The University of Nebraska at Omaha evaluates applicants using a holistic review process. Each application is reviewed individually to assess academic preparation and potential for success.

Applicants who do not meet the Assured Admission requirements may be considered for Admission by Review. Factors evaluated may include cumulative GPA, class rank, ACT or SAT scores, performance in core coursework, and other indicators of academic readiness.

Additional documentation may be requested. Students admitted through Admission by Review must agree to the terms of admission, which may include completing designated coursework, participating in academic support services, or meeting specific academic progress requirements.

Provisional Admission

Provisional admission is granted when final required documents have not yet been received.

This status typically applies to:

  • First-year applicants who have not yet graduated from high school

  • Transfer applicants who are completing coursework

  • Applicants with pending transcripts or other required materials

Admission remains provisional until final documents are received and reviewed. If final coursework does not meet admission requirements, the offer of admission may be revoked.

All required materials must be submitted within eight weeks of enrollment. Failure to do so will result in an enrollment hold that prevents future course registration.

Academic Suspension or Dismissal

Applicants who have been academically suspended or dismissed from any college or university within the past academic year are not eligible for admission.

If the University receives official documentation confirming a recent suspension or dismissal, enrollment will be canceled and any tuition paid will be refunded.

Applicants may reapply one full year after the last term of suspension or dismissal.

Deferred Admission

Applicants who do not meet admission requirements may be advised to complete additional coursework at another institution before being reconsidered for admission.

Fraudulent or Misrepresented Information

Applicants must provide accurate and truthful information on all application materials and supporting documents.

The submission of false, altered, or intentionally misleading information may result in denial of admission, withdrawal of the application from consideration, revocation of admission, cancellation of enrollment, or dismissal from the University.

The University of Nebraska at Omaha reserves the right to verify application materials, including contacting applicants or third parties for confirmation. If misrepresentation is discovered at any stage of the admission or enrollment process, appropriate action will be taken.
