This course introduces students to the field of nanoscale materials, highlighting how their behavior differs from that of larger systems. Learners will study methods of synthesis and functionalization of nanomaterials and will gain exposure to modern tools used to probe their structure and performance. Applications in energy conversion, medicine, and advanced technologies will be explored to show the broad relevance of the field. Ethical, environmental, and societal considerations will also be discussed to provide a well-rounded perspective on nanoscience. (Cross-listed with CHEM 4520).

Prerequisite(s): CHEM 2250 with the grade of C- or better or instructor's permission.
