LAWS 3940 LAW & ETHICS IN EMERGING TECHNOLOGY (3 credits)
LAWS 3940 examines the legal and ethical challenges posed by emerging technologies in business and society. Students explore how artificial intelligence, blockchain, biotechnology, autonomous systems, and data driven platforms interact with existing legal frameworks and ethical norms. The course emphasizes liability, regulation, intellectual property, privacy, and governance, while developing skills in legal reasoning and ethical analysis. Ethics is studied as a discrete discipline and applied across all areas of law through real-world case studies, contemporary legal disputes, and policy analysis. Additionally, this course satisfies the mandatory ethics requirement for CPA certification.
Prerequisite(s): Junior or Senior standing, or permission from the instructor.
