MUS 8636  APPROACHES TO CONTEMPORARY SINGING STYLES (3 credits)

This course will explore pedagogical and practical methods that promote alternative genres of singing in music education and performance. Contemporary genres covered include country/folk, pop, rock, and jazz/blues, and other legitimate genres of contemporary singing. It is designed for music students to become well-informed about the singing styles and techniques outside the classical music realm. (Cross-listed with MUS 4630).

Prerequisite(s): Graduate students or permission by instructor. Not open to non-degree graduate students.
