This course presents a broad, interdisciplinary introduction to some of the most pressing environmental and ecological problems in various parts of the Spanish-speaking world, as well as some of the ways in which such problems are being addressed at different levels to promote social and ecological sustainability (locally, nationally, regionally, and globally). The Spanish-speaking world, also known as the Hispanosphere, encompasses the following geographical areas: Spain, Hispanic America, Equatorial Guinea, and portions of the United States.
