SPAN 8076 HISPANIC BILINGUALISM: LIVING BETWEEN LANGUAGES (3 credits)
This course examines how Spanish bilingualism develops, is processed in the brain, and is shaped by community, identity, and power. Focuses on Spanish-speaking contexts in the U.S., Latin America, and Spain, including heritage Spanish, language maintenance and loss, and bilingual education. Students analyze bilingual speech and reflect on their language experiences. (Cross-listed with SPAN 4070).
