STAT 8720  RELIABILITY AND LIFETIME DATA ANALYSIS (3 credits)

This course covers the probabilistic, statistical, and data-analytic aspects of reliability and lifetime data analysis. Topics include modeling component and system reliability, estimation of lifetime distributions, survival analysis, accelerated testing, and degradation data modeling. The course emphasis is placed on both theoretical foundations and applied methods, with the use of modern statistical software for data analysis and visualization. Applications from engineering, product testing, and related fields are incorporated to connect theory with practice. (Cross-listed with MATH 8720).

Prerequisite(s): Either MATH 4750 or STAT 3800 or permission of the instructor. Some basics of mathematical analysis are helpful when discussing limit theorems, but not required.
