TED 4330  TEACHING OF MATHEMATICS: ELEMENTARY (3 credits)

This course is designed to prepare elementary teacher candidates as mathematics education professionals at the elementary level. The course utilizes "hands-on" discussion and laboratory oriented activities where participants actively practice instructional topics and techniques related to the learning of mathematics at the elementary level. Course topics include standards-based lesson planning, mathematical discourse, use of representations and tools, formative assessment, differentiation, and technology. Through curriculum analysis, teaching rehearsals, field-based experiences, and reflection, candidates develop the pedagogical knowledge and instructional skills needed to support diverse learners in grades K-6.
