TED 8340 PRINCIPLES OF LINGUISTICS FOR EDUCATORS (3 credits)
The purpose of this course is to develop an understanding of theory and practice as it relates to the essential components of linguistics for teaching in a PK-12 setting, including but not limited to phonology, morphology, syntax, language acquisition and sociolinguistics. This knowledge is applied through a series of assignments in which students are tasked to apply a linguistic theory to the real teaching contexts to develop the skills of integrating the knowledge of how language works into their teaching of PK-12 students.
