TED 3050 FOUNDATIONS OF ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (ESL) (3 credits)
This course is designed to enhance candidates' understanding of the historical, political, and theoretical perspectives of K-12 English as a Second Language (ESL) education for English Language Learners (ELLs) in the U.S. context. As dedicated practitioners, reflective scholars, and responsible citizens, students will have knowledge of factors that contribute to an effective multicultural and multilingual learning environment. TED 3050 includes an in school, guided practicum. Candidates must demonstrate competencies related to teaching English Language Learners (ELLs) in K-12 classrooms. This is the first of two practicum experiences to complete the field experience requirements for Nebraska Department of Education's English as a Second Language (ESL) teaching endorsement; required for undergraduate students pursuing the ESL endorsement..
